Posting Jobs to the new SEIU.org
There is no way for job listings inside your SWEB site to be automatically transferred to the main,
SEIU.org website. In order for jobs to appear in both locations - your SWEB site and the SEIU.org site - you must post your job to both systems.
The following information, which was provided directly from SEIU International Communications team, will walk you through getting your jobs onto the SEIU.org website.
IMPORTANT:
You must contact the SWEB Support Desk to obtain the username and password for logging into the system.
Once you have obtained the credentials to log-on to SEIU.org, you can then access the system at:
http://www.seiu.org/mt/mt.cgi
Once you have obtained the credentials to access the system, please continue with the process, as follows:
-
To create a job listing, after logging in click the orange "Write Entry" button in the top-left. This page will have all of the fields that you will need to post your job in all of the states/categories that you would like.
-
The next category you'll want to click on is "jobs." This tells Movable Type to make it show up in the jobs section of the website.
-
Please do not put in any additional categories. Now on to the data fields.
-
Most of these fields are self-explanatory. "Title" simply refers to the job title, for instance. The text area field under that, called "body," can be ignored and will not be displayed no matter what.
-
"Jobs: expire date" is simply the date that this job will disappear from seiu.org. You must give some sort of date, but if you are unsure, you can always set it to be six months from now and simply edit it later.
-
"Job: category" is also the other mandatory field. You must choose one of them. If none of these fields could possibly apply, please send an email to michael.link@seiu.org who can see about possibly adding an option. Still, see where it fits best.
-
The rest of the fields explain themselves, for the most part. If you want paragraphs, however, make sure that you begin each paragraph with '< p >' and end each paragraph with '< /p >'. It's very basic HTML that allows you to skip a couple lines. If you want a link, unordered list, bolded text, or other basic HTML, you can see a cheat sheet here: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/
-
Please, however, do not change fonts.
-
You will want to uncheck the "International" checkbox since it is a Local job.
-
Once you've done that, save the post. Then email Michael Link who can review the post and publish your job (which at this point will only be in draft mode).
If there are any questions, or, should you require any assistance with using the SEIU.org Content Management System, please direct your questions to
Michael Link.
