Step-by-step instructions for adding an article
1. Go to the admin view (screen labeled ‘SEIU Web Site Administration’ at the top with 3 categories below: Create | Manage | Configure) via the ‘Manage Site’ at the top admin bar in your admin view or by logging in to your site with the /login.aspx extension.
2. Create a new article. Mouse over the ‘Create’ option, then mouse over ‘Content’ on the pull-down menu, then mouse over and click on ‘Article’ on the next pull-down menu.
NOTE: To edit a previously created article, mouse over the ‘Manage’ option, then mouse over ‘Content’ on the pull-down menu, then mouse over and click on ‘Article’ on the next pull-down menu. When you are at the next screen, you will see a list of articles that have been created. Find the article that you would like to edit and click on the ‘Edit’ button below the article.
3. When you have approached the next screen, it will either be titled ‘Add Article’ or ‘Edit Article’, and you should see a form fields to be filled in.
4. Fill in the field labeled ‘Title’ at least (it is required).
5. Put the content of your article into the Article Body window. The Article Body text will be used to generate the page with the full article, or the “full” display. The Short Summary will used for the “small feature” display be shown on the SEIU site.
You can copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) this text from any document (PDF, Word, Notepad, etc) into the Article body field. Be sure to use the paste as plain text button for content that is formatted (4th clipboard button).
6. The other fields (Subtitle, Date, Source, Short Summary, Article Images) are optional.
7. When inserting an image into the article body, make sure you choose an appropriately sized image for the type of article that you are creating (ie, 100 or 200 pixels wide).
8. Choose images to associate with the article according to how you want to display it.
o A Large image would be used for the billboard display area, such that the image stands alone (without text) and links to the full article. This image should be a maximum of 570 pixels wide.
o A Medium image is needed for the “large feature” display at the top of the homepage with the purple shaded background. This image must be a maximum of 242 pixels wide (and 155 pixels high). (You can resize images to this exact size with the Resize tool in the Asset Library.)
o A Small image is needed for a “small feature” display of an article. This image must be a maximum of 124 pixels wide (and 69 pixels high). (You can resize images to this exact size with the Resize tool in the Asset Library.)
