8.2 : Content Types - Defined

In our CMS, content and design are separate: we enter and edit content separately from determining the layout of pages, or placing content on pages.

Content is managed in 10 Content Types:

Content Type
Description
Article Displays as Billboard (large image only), Large Feature (short summary and medium image), Small Feature (short summary and small image), Custom (article body only), Full Article, or Promo.
Blog Blog with (or without) categories and comments; comments can be moderated; tool can also be used as a “campaign log” without comments
Event Events populate in Calendar view and List view, and generate event detail pages; List view can be configured to show events monthly, quarterly, or yearly
Job Jobs include fields to provide information about available positions and instructions for prospective candidates.

**No integration exists between the SWEB system and the SEIU International jobs database.
Press Release Press Releases entered in tool will be dynamically added to the master site Press Release Index, categorized by date; releases are searchable; two displays available:

  • Full (entire release)
  • Feature (release as small feature with headline, summary, and link to full release)
Photo Gallery Two photo gallery views are available to your site visitors:
  • Slideshow - large versions of images, displayed individually with forward/back/pause buttons
  • Gallery - thumbnail views of all images contained in a specific gallery
Promo Ad Promos can be one of three formats:
  • Image Only
  • Text (with or without image)
  • Flash

Promos can be placed:
  • Left-hand Column, below the vertical nav in the left-hand column (MUST be 150px, or less)
  • Right-hand Column of the homepage and 3-column inner pages (MUST be 150px, or less)
  • Billboard section of the homepage layout (MUST be 570px, or less)

Recommended size for Promo Ads is 150 pixels wide x between 70 and 90 pixels tall.
RSS Feed Two kinds of RSS feeds are available:
  • Your site’s headlines from a specific content type with specific tags, all with the tag “RSS Category”
  • Headlines ‘grabbed’ from external sites
Dynamic Content List (DCL) Dynamic lists are updated automatically when new content is added. Lists can be built with three types of content:
  • Articles
  • Events
  • Press Releases

Lists are defined by combinations of content tags and types of content.

Three displays are available (in all, the title links to full story):
  • Title only
  • Title and summary
  • Ttitle, summary and link

Site admin defines number of items to display, list title, and background options (purple, tan, or no color).
Worksite Worksite pages dynamically pull in stewards, contracts, and events associated with each worksite.
