7.2 : Content Areas and Content Types - Main Content Area
The Main Content Area or 'center well' of all page layouts is the place in which the majority of a given page's content appears. As the Main Content Area is a different width depending on what page layout you are using, it is useful to know what content types can be accommodated in a layout's Main Content Area.

Some content types are designed to fit into the Main Content Area of only certain page layouts. Here is a list of dependencies:

Main Content Area Content Type Compatibility Matrix
In certain circumstances the system will prohibit you from inserting a content type into a content area that cannot hold it. For instance, when you open the content selector for the Main Content Area of a page using the homepage layout, Photo Gallery does not appear as an option as this content type cannot be used on a homepage layout.
