As some of you may have seen, the upgrade to Firefox 3 is now being made automatically available to users of version 2.0.0.16 (and prior). Because of this, we're expecting to see a surge in the number of SWEB Admins making the switch to this latest version.
Unfortunately, we have not yet finalized the process of certifying all SWEB Administrative functions for use with this upgraded browser platform. The certification process to identify and resolve any new bugs introduced by this browser upgrade is currently underway, but the process needs to be comprehensive and will take some time to complete.
Should you upgrade to Firefox 3 and find yourself unable to complete certain tasks, we ask that you report them to us immediately. This will assist us in identifying items that require further examination.
In order to work-around, and/or avoid the problems, we can only offer two choices:
1. Continue using Firefox 3, switching to Internet Explorer for any functions that appear problematic/broken within Firefox 3.
If you go down this path, we ask that you report any anomalies that you come across while using Firefox 3 - this will help us identify any other issues that we may not be aware of already.
2. Downgrade to Firefox 2.0.0.16, which is the most current version of the browser which is fully supported within SWEB.
Mozilla (the folks behind FF) has posted instructions on doing this here:
previous+version+of+Firefox>
If you do choose to downgrade - be sure to set your options within Firefox to NOT automatically check for updates to the browser; otherwise, your software will auto-update itself to version 3 again.
Please feel free to send any questions, or concerns regarding this process to LOLv3Help@threespot.com.
